#EuroSection1ère : Travail durant la période de fermeture

***********************************************************

Week 1 & 2
The main activity:
We're going to work on your next podcast/tutorial.
But I want you to do it step by step.

The first step is : writing your script.
1. Choose your team members
2. Choose your topic (a really small point of your Mathematical curriculum)
3. Go to overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/)
4. Click on the right document (Podcasts - tutorials scripts (1ère))
5. Choose your team's number (choose one which is not already used) and click on the right part in the left hand side menu
6. Start writing your script
7. Let me know when you've finished
8. Wait for me. I'll correct your script

***********************************************************

Week 3
The second step will be : creating your podcast/tutorial
1. Choose to create an audio podcast or a video tutorial
2. Write the names of the software(s) you'll have used at the end of your script
3. Put the created file on Pearltrees in private (Using Pearltrees, which you can access by netocentre, you'll have 1 To of storage!)
4. Share your private file with me
5. Wait for your mark! ;)

Some advice:
1. Be careful about your pronunciation. Check the pronunciation of the words you're not sure about.
2. If you get into troubles using overleaf (and LaTeX), of course, let me know.
3. If something goes wrong, let me know as well
4. Activate your Pearltrees' account in netocentre. I'll share you the folder I've created for you.

The other activity:
Your class assistants' presentation.
In your schedule, you'll see your name if you haven't been class assistant yet.

I ask you to create a presentation and to send your script and your audio podcast to me.
You can use Pearltrees again to send your documents to me.

Please do it by the end of the week you're supposed to be class assistant.

A test during week #3
It's time for the test!!
Everything is on Pearltrees (https://www.pearltrees.com/private/id29967352?access=1788a339d2a.1c943f8.8bbea3a75d465353d58336d3123e14cb).
But I'm going to explain it here as well.
You have to watch a video.
If it's a bit too tricky for you, you can slow down the video and read English subtitles (they are auto-generated).
From the beginning of Friday to the end of Sunday, you'll be able to access the test on Moodle.
So be sure, you can access to Moodle by Friday.

Week 4
No extra task this week...because many of you are late...

***********************************************************

A challenge for the holiday!
For this particular period, I just want to give you a small challenge.
It's a pronunciation/imitation challenge.
Here is how it works:
1. Listen to this podcast on the circular economy: https://www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/features/6-minute-english/ep-200305 (or choose an other one from this page https://www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/features/6-minute-english)
You can read the script while listening if it helps.
2. Practice your pronunciation by reading aloud the script. Of course, you can listen to it several times to improve your pronunciation or look for the phonemic script of the words you don't how to pronounce.
3. When you're ready, record yourself reading the script.
You can do it with another student from the class...or your father/mother/brother/sister...
If you find it a bit too long you can stop after Alexandre Lemille's first speech.
4. Send it to me. I advise you to put your audio file in a private collection on Pearltrees and then share it with me.
5. Have fun!!

***********************************************************

Weeks 5 & 6
The next task is the following:
You could do it alone or work in a group.

- If you're alone write a summary of the video you like best among the following two.
- If you're in a group of two students, create an interview (one will be a journalist, the other one will be the interviewee)
- If you're in bigger group...imagine something around the theme you've chosen.

The two videos are:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEpbYGZKrC4
or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8kUJL04ELA

Here are the steps you have to follow:

1. Write a script and send it to me
2. Wait for my comments
3. Record a podcast/video
4. Have fun!

***********************************************************

Week 7

As many of you are a bit late...and haven't sent all you have to do to me, this week is a free one for those who are on time...
and a chance to catch up for those who are late.

Wednesday's update: I've sent an email to you with the glossaries (mine and yours) as digital books.
If you want to change the cover with another image, just let me know.

***********************************************************

Weeks 8 & 9

You're going to write a newspaper article related to a Maths or Science current subject.
Here are some rules to respect.
- one or two picture(s) (use a picture you're allowed to use!)
- highlight the important/difficult vocabulary of your article
- write a small glossary in your article with this vocabulary (an all English version: words and définitions must be written in English)
- the whole article (text + picture(s) + glossary) must be at most one page long.

1. Create a team of students (an efficient team of course!)
2. Share actions between your teammates
3. Send your work to me with an explanation of the role of each of the teammate
4. Record a short podcast to explain your choice and sent it to me

The deadline is Friday May the 29th.

You can use the software you prefer to write your article.
If you want to write it using LaTeX, I advise you to use Overleaf. You'll find templates for newspaper.

I'll create an online newspaper to gather your work.

***********************************************************

Weeks 10 and the following ones

Please finish the work you haven't finished yet,
especially the newspaper article and the associated podcast (read weeks 8 et 9 for further information).
